Filipino mobile operator Globe Telecom has established a new division dedicated to artificial intelligence, aiming to integrate this technology seamlessly into its operations.
This new division, named Globe’s AI Development and Enablement Group (AIDE), will officially launch on June 1. It will lead Globe’s AI initiatives, focusing on strategic AI planning, development, business integration, and governance.
AIDE will be responsible for implementing AI in various aspects of Globe’s business operations, including service delivery and customer experience.
Ernest Cu, Globe’s president and CEO, highlighted in a stock exchange filing that the rise of AI represents a significant transformation, promising to revolutionize business operations and customer service.
Consolidating AI Efforts

Cu emphasized the need for a unified and vigorous approach to quickly navigate these technological advancements.
Anton Bonifacio has been appointed to lead the new division as Globe’s first Chief AI Officer. Bonifacio also serves as the chief information security officer for the company.
“The creation of AIDE reflects a strategic investment in our technological capabilities and a concerted effort to integrate AI seamlessly into our operations,” Bonifacio stated.
He added, “We are dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and responsible AI use, ensuring our advancements drive business growth, enhance service delivery, and improve customer experience, while adhering to the highest standards of governance and compliance.”
