Globe: No Unregistered SIMs in Active Use

Globe has played a leading role in enforcing SIM Registration Act. All SIMs in use must be registered.

Globe prohibits use of SIMs not registered. In the current system, Globe platforms are required to register a new SIM before it is activated.

“We have designed our SIM Registration so that no SIM may be used on a network unless it is registered. All active SIMs in the network are in our SIM registration system. We already have in place measures that prevent the illegal use unregistered SIMs as we continue to enhance our SIM-registration platform.

Globe currently services 58.8million mobile subscribers.

Globe deactivated about 30 million SIMs not registered during the registration period between December 27, 2022 and July 30, 2023.

Globe has improved security measures since then to ensure that new SIMs are registered in a secure manner. These include advanced encryption protocols that secure data during registration. Live photo capture technology prevents the use of pre-existing pictures. And limited ID submission retries prevent random attempts to submit fictitious IDs.

Globe reminds SIM-users to provide accurate and photo-ID information. Giving false information can be punished under the law.
